EN 81-1:2008 +A3  and EN 81-2:2008 +A3.
INFORMATIVE NOTE (ADDENDUM 3)

By the middle of next year, the Lift Industry must meet a new standard requirement: Addendum 3, which extends the technical safety rules described in the current European Standards EN 81-1 and EN 81-2.

DYNATECH anticipated the Addendum 3 specification contents several years ago by developing the anti-creep system for its speed governors. These governors incorporating the anti-creep system, when combined with our safety gears, meet the requirements described in the above-mentioned Addendum 3 100%.

Now, the question is:

Why there is no information on the Certification of these systems according to Addendum 3 on the Dynatech website?

The answer is clear:

Up until now, none of the prestigious Notified Bodies Dynatech usually works with can Certify the System as either they do not have the corresponding Procedures and Instructions concerning internal organization or they are still developing them; on the other hand, they cannot officially certify technical requirements included in a Standard which is not in force and, therefore, its fulfilment cannot be demanded.

Surprisingly, we have heard that some companies have launched products in accordance with Addendum 3 on the Market, bearing the corresponding CE Marking (please note that this Marking does not appear anywhere on their website). Taking into account what has previously been mentioned, we consider that the customer deserves a serious and truthful explanation of the real situation.

Furthermore, as you know, Dynatech is certified by the TÜV Rheinland Notified Body according to ISO 9001:2008 and the Appendix IX of the Lift Directive 95/16/EC. Dynatech is entitled to carry out a self-certification process of the system and can execute it with complete technical self-sufficiency due to the great deal of resources at its disposal; they even include ENAC (National Accreditation Body) traceability, member of EA (European Cooperation for Accreditation) concerning calibration and validation of test equipment.

Nevertheless, even if this self-certification process was carried out, the temporary circumstances of Addendum 3 application would be the same. On the other hand, we remain faithful to our particular work style and would rather proceed as usual, that is to say, going through the Notified Bodies to obtain the CE Marking for our products.

To sum up:

1-  On this day, Dynatech states that its products meet the requirements demanded by Addendum 3 100%.

2- Dynatech will provide its clients with the corresponding CE marking which may be demanded by this amendment to the lift Standard when applicable and, therefore, requirable.

3- The information included in this informative note is absolutely true and literally corresponds to the contents of the telephone and written conversations or of personal meetings between Dynatech’s technical staff and their peers in both of the Notified Bodies we work with:

We are fully aware that, when regulations are being modified, there may be a feeling of concern usually caused by the lack of information supplied by Bodies, companies, etc. This is why Dynatech, by means of this informative note, wanted to clearly explain the real situation and reassure its clients.

RAUL MARTINEZ Y ADRIAN UCLES ON THE ALPAMAYO SUMMIT (5.947 m)

We just got to Huaraz, now are the 21 h PM and we are very tired. Broadly speaking, we can say that everything went as planned.

We arrived at BC on the 28th, Day Celebrations in Peru. The next day we moved from CB to CII, directly, without sleeping on the CI. Ten hours of activity to exceed 1100 m.

Today we got to Base Camp, a little tired; the journey here was very long. On the way we met Igor, a Basque who intends to travel around Peru for three months; but for now he has the same goal as us, this is the second time he is trying to reach it.

He arrived at Base Camp with the intention of joining another roped team. We gave him the opportunity to join us, we think that being a double roped team increases our chances of success; this way we all benefit from it.

Tomorrow we will climb towards IC; we must surpass a cumulated one thousand two hundred meters incline. We will see the most beautiful mountain in the world from up close; we will look at its face and caress its slopes.

We hope the Alpamayo welcomes us with its best clothes and our dream comes true.
